Supported Languages and Devices

ChatGPT Voice is available only on Android and iOS. At the time of writing, it supports 37 languages. Also, it works great with auto-detection. You can talk with ChatGPT in your native language, you can also do that. Here is how to change the ChatGPT Voice language in the app.

Step 1: Open the ChatGPT app on your smartphone and tap the hamburger menu (two horizontal lines).

Step 2: Tap the kebab menu (three dots) next to your name.

Step 3: Tap Main Language under the Speech section.

Step 4: Tap and select a preferred language. For example purposes, we’re selecting Auto-Detect.

How to Use ChatGPT With Voice

Instead of typing back and forth, you can have a more natural-sounding voice conversation on ChatGPT which can save you a ton of time. And using ChatGPT Voice on your smartphone is a breeze. Here’s how you can do that.

Step 1: Launch the ChatGPT app on your smartphone, and you’ll be greeted with Chat with voice page. Tap Choose a voice.

Note: The greeting page will only come if you are opening the app for the first time.

Step 2: Select a voice and tap Confirm.

Step 3: Tap the headphone icon near the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 4: ChatGPT will start listening and you can talk with it. You can also pause the conversation by tapping the pause button.

Step 5: After you’re done chatting, tap the red button to end the conversation. You can take a look at the transcript of the whole conversation on the chat page.

Step 6: If you wish to continue the same conversation, tap the headphone icon or tap the new chat icon near the top-left corner of the screen.

Make ChatGPT Voice Your Personal Assistant on iPhone

Siri on iPhone is a decent voice assistant. However, you can utilize the power of ChatGPT Voice and use it as your digital assistant on your iPhone without launching the ChatGPT app every single time. You’ll be needing the Shortcuts app on your iPhone to do so and here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone and tap the ‘+’ button.

Step 2: Tap Add Action.

Step 3: Search for ChatGPT and tap Start voice conversation from the results.

Step 4: Tap the down arrow.

Step 6: Give the Shortcut a name.

Tip: Give it a smaller name because you can also summon ChatGPT Voice quickly by saying the name of the shortcut to Siri.

Tip: You can also set the same shortcut for the action button on your iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max to quickly access ChatGPT Voice.

Change ChatGPT’s Voice

Like all other voice assistants, ChatGPT also lets you change its voice from the settings. There are 5 pre-defined voices to choose from. Let’s take a look at the steps.

Step 1: Open the ChatGPT app and tap the hamburger menu.
