1. Download Telegram Videos Without Any Glitches
First, let us show you how you can download Telegram videos without any problems on Windows 11 PC.
Step 1: Open Telegram on your PC or laptop.
Step 2: Go to a chat, group, or channel you want to download the video.
Step 3: Right-click on the video file and select Save As from the context menu.
Step 4: Select desired download location on the Windows 11 PC, and Telegram will start downloading the video.
You will see the Telegram video appearing in the File Manager, but it won’t open until it finishes the download process in the app.
Things to Keep in Mind While Downloading Videos in Telegram
- Check the video file size – if it’s too big, make sure to use a fast internet connection. Opt for a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection and not the 2.4 GHz one.
- Pause other download processes or streaming in the background.
- Don’t completely close the Telegram app. You can minimize the app and continue working on other tasks.
If you pause the download process or cancel it before the completion, you will be left with a broken Telegram video file that won’t open on PC.
2. Use Films & TV App
The default media app on Windows can play popular video formats such as .mp4 without any issues.
Open the File Manager app on the PC. Select the video file that you want to play. Right-click on it and go to Open with menu > Films & TV app.
The video will open in the Films & TV app and start playing.
3. Install HEVC Video Extensions
The default video player doesn’t support every file format. When you try to open some Telegram videos, you might face an error with the system asking you to install relevant HEVC codec files.
Microsoft offers HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft Store on Windows. You can purchase it for $0.99, and they will get integrated with the video player.
You can now go ahead and start playing Telegram videos.
4. Use VLC Video Player
If you have downloaded a Telegram video in .mkv or another unsupported format, you must use a third-party video player from the web.
VLC is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed video players for Windows. Using VLC, you can play downloaded Telegram video on the PC.
The VLC media player is officially available from the Microsoft Store on Windows.
Step 1: Visit Microsoft Store on Windows and search for VLC.
Step 2: Find the app from suggestions and click Install.
Step 3: After successful installation, go to the File Manager and find the Telegram video.
Step 4: Right-click on it and select Open with from the context menu.
Step 5: Select VLC media player, and the app will start playing video as usual.
If you are satisfied with the VLC experience on the Windows 11 PC, you have an option to set the app as the default video player for specific video files. Here’s how.
Step 1: Right-click on the video file and go to Open with menu.
Step 2: Select Choose another app.
Step 3: Click on the VLC media player and enable ‘Always use this app to open specific file checkbox’.
5. Contact Group Admin on Telegram
Sometimes, the group admin accidentally uploads a broken video file on the platform. You can download it, but no matter what you try, you won’t be able to play the video on the Windows 11 PC.
You can contact the group or Telegram channel admin and ask them to verify the video file and upload it again.
