The Google Contacts app has been the default app for Android phones for contact management. This goes for all your email and SIM card contacts stored on your Android phone. The Contacts app also lets you back up your contacts, making it easier whenever you switch to a new Android device.
Now if you have a lot of contacts stored on your Android, you can choose to create Labels for specific contacts to access them quickly. You can create Contact Labels for friends, family, work, and more. Here’s a detailed guide to creating Labels for specific contacts in the Google Contacts App.
Difference Between Labels and Groups in Google Contacts App
Before we show you the steps to create Labels, you might think this sounds similar to creating Contact Groups. Well, there is indeed a difference between the two. Creating a Google Group is mostly applicable to work or school accounts where only the emails of a particular number of users are added to send messages in bulk. A Contact Label contains information like phone number, address, and date of birth of specific users. Your contact doesn’t need an email account to be added to a Label.
Another big difference between Labels and Groups is accessibility. A Contact Group is only accessible by the Google Workspace admin in a company or an organization. On the other hand, Contact Labels are accessible from anywhere, including Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts app on your Android phone, etc. A Label is created only by using your Google account contacts.
